EVECSA

Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) aims to tackle three main objectives: sustainably increasing agricultural productivity and incomes; adapting and building resilience to climate change; and reducing and/or removing greenhouse gas emissions, where possible. The EVECSA project sets out to enable current and future employees in the European agricultural sector to take climate smart action. EVECSA shall build strong skills ecosystems through strong Communities of Practice (CoP). 22 partners will collaborate to establish six Centres of Vocational Excellence in six countries. Ten agro-VET providers, six enterprises or industry- and sector representative organisations, four universities and two knowledge partners will be involved. Within each CoVE they will cooperate to strengthen quality, relevance, and attractiveness of the vocational learning offer for climate smart agriculture, while cooperating with the CoVEs in the other countries via a platform of vocational excellence (PoVE). This transnational cooperation will deliver the European Vocational Alliance for Climate Smart Agriculture (EVACSA) which will continue to shape climate smart agriculture education policies and practices that foster sustainable production of food, job opportunities, and well-being for all. Despite distinct regional differences, the agro-VET sector in the European countries in many ways must adapt to comparable changes in the skills set needed for a transition to climate smart agriculture. CoVE and PoVE as arenas for CoPs shall contribute to stronger relations and more systematic cooperation amongst key stakeholders in the agricultural skills ecosystem – the knowledge triangle. This shall ensure that agro-VET providers become legitimate central participants in AKIS, are updated on and work with the newest trends in the sector and provide learning offers meeting the needs of the sector.
