Cattle Breeders' Association of Aydin/Turkey

CBAA aims to contribute to building a national animal breeding policy. Research and policy development activities are being undertaken for livestock management and increasing welfare of cattle breeders and animals. Therefore, CBAA makes plans and implements activities to achieve these aims and tasks. Main activities of the association include:

- Herd Book - Pre Herd Book keeping

- Artificial Insemination

- Vaccination

- Sperm Sales

- Mating

- Progeny Testing

- Milking and Hygiene Product Sales to producers

and Training.

- women and young breeders trainings

- rural development

-etc.

Training activities includes training of the personnel and technical staff with regards to the new development and requirements in the sector. Besides, the member farmers and their technical staff are being trained in terms of the way that they should treat the animals. The member farms (4.990) and non-member producers (around 32.000 farms with 115.000 cows and 250.000 cattle) are visited frequently and included in training programs.



The association has been taking part in nationally and internationally funded programs. The Media-External Relations-Project Services department prepares and executes projects. There are a project coordinator and project assistance under this department. These both of project officers are key persons in our projects. Both project coordinator and project assistant have project management experience both university graduate has certificates for project management.
There have been 4 national projects that the association took place either as applicant or as partner between 2008 and 2011.
These projects are:

2011 – “From Animal Fertilizer to Clean Energy : Aydin Atlas” Project

2011 European Commission funded project was implemented in Aydin (TR0703.01-02/FA - “Building Knowledge Bridges on Dairy Farm Management for Future”).

The education and training department in CBAA is Farm Advisory Centre which operates in farm advisory and training services for member farmers. The staffs of the Centre are mainly composed of agriculture engineers and vets. Agricultural consultants have certificate about livestock and agriculture.

2010 -Project Partner with Adnan Menderes University in “R&D Centre for Milk Quality Safety and Bio-technogical Diagnosis in Dairy Cattle Diseases” Project

2010 - Project Partner with Adnan Menderes University in “Epizootic congenital Calf Anomaly and Serologic, Virologic and Pathologic Researches on Aborts” Project
2008 - Project Partner with Provincial Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in “Examining of Alternative Mechanization Possibilities of Dairy Cattle Enterprises” Project.
