Westfield Chodov

  • A few years ago, we were the first shopping center in the Czech Republic to start raising honey bees to draw attention to their importance for the ecosystem.
  • We now have about 80,000 bees in the hives in the summer. Our beehives are located on the roof of the shopping center.
  • On one kilogram of honey, bees visit an average of about 2.5 to 5 million flowers of all insect-bearing plants within a range of at least 3 to 5 km from the apiary.
  • We pour bee honey directly from Westfield Chodov from our 15 hives every summer. The vintage is usually around July 6, after which the bees prepare for the winter season.
  • The bees in the hives are of the Singer F1 breed, the Carnian type and the dams are native to Austria.
